For many years Camp Lutherlyn has sponsored a mini-family camp over the long Victoria Day weekend in May. Some of the participants are families who also attend the regular August family camp. For others the mini-family camp is their only Lutherlyn experience. Pastor Peeter Vanker has
organized and directed these camps.
The participants are both families and single adults, ranging in age from the very young to senior citizens. Because of summer work commitments older teenagers are often not able to attend the summer family camp but can take part in the mini-family camp in May. Families stay in individual cabins. Some are able to be accommodated in the "Four Seasons" facility. Families are responsible for their own children. There are no "counselors".
The focus for the May mini-camps differs from year to year. The overall goal is to get-to know and enjoy each other in a beautiful and relaxed camp
setting, and to provide an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the larger church. Over the years we have invited various individuals and
families to attend as presenters. These have included refugees, missionaries, prison and hospital chaplains, a pastor originally from Africa. They have shared their insights and their experiences. One of the participants regularly brings his bag pipes, others other musical instruments.
Perennial highlights include wonderful meals, camp fires, worship
experiences, games (volley ball, bocci, cards, etc.), hikes, conversations.
Relationships and friendships are formed and deepened. Participants return challenged and renewed.
You are invited to consider attending the 2010 mini-family camp at
Lutherlyn (May 21-24). For further information please contact:
